On behalf of the Institute for Christian Impact (ICI), we bring warm fraternal greetings and hearty congratulations on the induction of Mrs. Ama Asamoabea Elebru as the new Board Chairman of the Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students (GHAFES).
This induction is historic and deeply symbolic. Today, we do not only induct a new Chairman; we celebrate a legacy coming full circle. Ama is the daughter of the second Board Chairman of GHAFES, Mr. R.B. Perbi, who faithfully stewarded this movement and handed over leadership around 1989—about 36 years ago when I was a student leader.
Today, his daughter takes up the baton as the 7th Board Chairman and the 1st female Chairman in the history of GHAFES. What a beautiful testimony of generational faithfulness. This is what Proverbs speaks of – a legacy of faith being passed on.
We have inducted a daughter of the house, who grew up watching this vision, and who now returns to lead it.
Stepping Into a Rich Heritage
Madam Chairman, you are stepping into a rich heritage:
1. A 60-Year Heritage of Faithfulness
As we recently celebrated:
“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”
— Psalm 126:3
Sixty years of sowing Scripture in students, sixty years of raising disciples, sixty years of impact. You are now a chief steward of this 60-year story.
2. A Heritage of Fruitfulness
We at ICI are witnesses to GHAFES’ fruit. Your associates are shining today in every sector of this nation—in the public sphere, in lecture halls, in hospitals, in business, in media, and in the Church—as salt and light according to Matthew 5:13-16.
Your initiatives have birthed movements. We celebrate:
- Care Association at Nima: Once a GHAFES student initiative, now an autonomous ministry serving the urban poor with dignity.
- Langham Expository Preaching Ghana: Also nurtured under GHAFES, now equipping pulpits across this nation to faithfully handle the Word of God (2 Timothy 2:15).
A Shared Journey & Partnership
We at ICI carry a deeply personal testimony. In 2023, GHAFES hosted ICI as a program of IFES-EPSA. You gave us room to grow. Today, by God’s grace, ICI stands as an autonomous organization, privileged to be led by a former National Director of GHAFES.
This is 2 Timothy 2:2 in action:
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”
Your father was faithful. GHAFES has been faithful. And the result is multiplication.
Our Prayer and Commitment
Madam Chairman, as you take up this mantle, may the Lord who sustained your father and who has sustained GHAFES for 60 years grant you wisdom, courage, and grace for this next chapter.
